As a brigadier general in the Revolutionary army, his troops drove Lord Dunmore from Virginia in July 1776, but he resigned his commission in 1777. Lewis also served in the House of Burgesses, participated in the Virginia’s Revolutionary Conventions, and served on the Virginia,s Executive Council from 1780 until his death.

Testimonials

“I have been staying at the Jerico B&B every year since 2002 with a group of motorcycle friends for a long weekend of riding the lovely local roads. We have always booked the Lewis cabin for many reasons: the number of beds, large kitchen, a flat driveway with plenty of parking room, a fireplace for cold evenings, and the propane grill. But most of all, we like it there because of the hot tub. After a full day of riding the local twisties, nothing feels better than relaxing in the tub with the jets running full blast!

It is especially nice to sit on the front porch and watch the fireflies flit among the leaves in the evening. Falling asleep in the quiet of the woods is so easy. From the Lewis cabin, it is short walk to downtown Marlinton and the Greenbrier River.

Lindie and Tom have treated us like family even on our first stay; last year they treated our group to a magnificent ‘anniversary’ dinner at the Main House! We look forward to seeing them every year and could never stay anywhere else. I heartily recommend them to anyone staying in West Virginia – not to be missed!”
